At Power of Purpose Counseling, we don’t just talk about the life you want—we help you take action to make it a reality. We believe that you have everything you need within you to live and feel the way you want to. That includes the motivation, the strength, and the ability—our job is to help you connect with those elements so you can use them to unlock who you want to be. Together, we’ll identify the paradigms and obstacles that have been keeping you stuck and disconnected from the ideal version of you. We’ll work together to identify your goals and make a plan complete with actionable steps so you can immediately start feeling better and making progress.

Our approach is unique because of how we blend Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) with solution-focused therapy. ART allows us to access parts of the brain that talking alone cannot reach, making it possible to bring relief from stuck emotions and unresolved trauma. Yes, this really does mean that you could finally experience relief from the depression, anxiety, or trauma that has impacted you for so long.

Once those barriers start healing, we shift our focus to implementing actionable strategies that help you develop new habits and build healthier neural pathways. This holistic process empowers you to move forward with clarity, confidence, and a renewed sense of purpose.

If you’re struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, or ADHD and you’re ready to take steps toward healing, P2 Counseling is ready to help. This isn’t just therapy—it’s a chance to connect with who you are meant to be!

Using ART and solution-focused techniques, Mike helps clients break through their past struggles, take action, and create lasting change—empowering them to live the life they truly want.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a unique, evidence-based treatment developed by Laney Rosenzweig. It is a powerful therapeutic approach designed to help individuals address common problems such as depression, anxiety, phobias, and PTSD. During ART, you use eye movements while processing negative images, sensations, and emotions. This allows the brain to forge new connections aligned with your strengths and problem-solving skills.

ART works exceptionally well in transforming traumatic memories, but its usefulness extends well beyond trauma work. ART can help clients heal from conditions like anxiety, depression, and phobias by making new connections in the brain and tapping into the subconscious.

Unlike traditional talk therapy, which typically involves verbal processing of memories and emotions, ART allows clients to process and transform these feelings through imagery and emotion. This rapid and targeted approach often provides relief much more quickly than traditional talk therapy.

What Is Solution-Focused Therapy?

Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) is an outcome-based approach that emphasizes solutions rather than spending time focusing on problems. As an ideal complement to ART therapy, SFT involves the client and therapist co-constructing the future the client wishes to achieve. Along the way, the therapist supports the client by helping them recognize and reconnect with their strengths and resources while revisiting past successes.

Clients often report that they enjoy the SFT process, finding it energizing, exciting, and hopeful. SFT is a powerful tool because it helps you realize that what you want is often much closer than you previously thought.

Therapy for Men: Take Control and Transform Your Life with P2 Counseling

At Power of Purpose Counseling, we get it. As a man, even just thinking about the idea of therapy can have negative connotations. As men, we are often told to "tough it out" and expected to handle what bothers us completely on our own without help, creating unnecessary stigma. Maybe you tried therapy once before, but it didn’t resonate, or you felt like it wasn’t practical enough. You’ve probably told yourself therapy isn’t for guys like you—it’s too soft, too focused on talking without real results.

That’s where we’re different—we support you in making real change and taking control. We’re here to help you take action, get results, and break through the barriers holding you back.

You are looking for something more—whether it’s in your career, relationships, or personal peace. Our unique method focuses on quickly identifying your goals, healing emotional pain while eliminating mental barriers, and empowering you to take action. This is therapy built for real men—focused, results-driven, and designed to help you take back control and create the life you want.

What is the difference between Accelerated Resolution Therapy and CBT?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an effective approach that helps shift how you think about your issues while building skills and practicing mindfulness. CBT helps identify dysfunctional thoughts while bringing awareness and a potential perspective shift. Over time, by using thought replacement exercises and interventions, CBT helps reduce anxiety, fear, and other emotional challenges.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) takes a different approach by using bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements) with guided mental imagery to help alleviate negative thoughts, emotions, and memories. ART doesn’t just focus on trauma—it helps shift any distressing feelings or thoughts quickly, replacing them with positive, empowering feelings and images.

While CBT works by reworking your thought patterns and behaviors, ART focuses more directly on your emotional responses, often providing faster relief and more immediate results. It’s a powerful tool for making real, lasting progress in a potentially shorter time.

Is Accelerated Resolution Therapy the same as EMDR?

When it comes to healing trauma, both EMDR and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) are powerful tools, but they each take slightly different approaches.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) works by having the client recall a traumatic memory while experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements). The bilateral stimulation helps the brain reprocess the memory, reducing its emotional charge over time. It’s an exploratory approach where you’re guided to notice and connect different thoughts, emotions, and memories related to the trauma. While effective, EMDR can take more time to achieve relief as it focuses on processing trauma through gradual emotional desensitization.

In contrast, ART is direct and solution-focused. During ART, you focus on specific memories, feelings, and/or emotions. Bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements) is used to alleviate negative sensations and replace negative images with positive ones. With ART, we say, "Keep the knowledge, lose the pain," because the facts of any memory remain after processing, but the negative sensations do not. Relief with ART often happens quickly, with results occurring in as little as 1–3 sessions.

Both therapies are designed to heal negative sensations and emotions, but ART does it in a more structured, action-driven way, often offering rapid results. If you’re ready for a more efficient and focused approach to healing, ART might be the solution you’ve been looking for.
